Your breathing went quiet 47 times last night. The longest gap lasted 22 seconds. You snored for two hours and fourteen minutes, and the loudest stretch was just before 2 a.m. That is the kind of thing you sleep straight through and never find out. NightIQ records the night with your iPhone's microphone and tells you what it heard.
Audio never leaves your phone. This is the part most sleep apps get wrong, so it is worth being specific. NightIQ has no account, no login, no server, and no network code. Audio is analysed on your iPhone, as it is captured, using Apple's on-device sound classifier plus our own signal processing. It is never uploaded, never streamed, never backed up to a cloud, and never sent to us, because there is no “us” to send it to. We could not read your nights if we wanted to.
You are recording yourself asleep. That should stay yours.
Plug the phone in, put it on the nightstand, tap Start, and go to sleep. NightIQ keeps listening with the screen black. In the morning, stop it and read the report. There is a Method and Sources screen, one tap from every report, that explains exactly how each number is produced and what can throw it off.
NightIQ hears sound. It does not measure airflow, breathing effort, or blood oxygen, and it does not pretend to. A microphone on a nightstand can tell you that your breathing went quiet, and it can tell you how often. It cannot tell you why.
Results are affected by a bed partner, pets, a fan, traffic, alcohol, a cold, and some medications. NightIQ tells you when a night was noisy or when recording was interrupted, rather than quietly reporting a number it is not confident about.
NightIQ costs what it costs, one time. No subscription, no trial that turns into a subscription, no locked report, no upsell at 3 a.m. There is no server to pay for, so there is no reason to bill you monthly for one.
Important — what NightIQ is and is not
NightIQ is a general wellness app for tracking sleep sounds. It is not a medical device and has not been reviewed or cleared by the FDA or any other regulatory authority. NightIQ analyses sound. It does not measure airflow, breathing effort, or blood oxygen, and it cannot detect, screen for, or diagnose sleep apnea or any other medical condition. It is not a substitute for a sleep study, a home sleep test, or professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Results can be affected by a bed partner, pets, fans, traffic, alcohol, illness, and medication. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you saw in this app. If you have any concern about your sleep, your snoring, or your breathing, talk to a licensed healthcare professional.
Questions? Email support@aiqmanage.com or visit the AIQ Manage support page. Every night you record stays in the app's storage on your own iPhone — you can delete a single night or everything from Settings, and deleting the app deletes it all. See the privacy policy.
